Volunteer Opportunities

Urumaya Conservation Foundation is run by volunteers and is made possible thanks to the support and involvement of like-minded passionate, dedicated and experienced people (just like you!).

So, if you interested in making a real difference in helping to preserve Sri Lanka’s unique and diverse cultural heritage, we’d love to have you join us on one (or more) of our exciting projects.

Volunteers can support our work in many ways such as:

  • hands-on assistance in undertaking field work

  • assisting with research and data management

  • working on community activities and events including Galle Heritage Week, museum exhibitions and the Galle Heritage Awards.

 Other roles include:

  • promoting and coordinating volunteer engagement in Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage sector

  • researching and creating accessible markets for grass roots cultural enterprises

  • mentoring local start-up enterprises

  • supporting administration

  • fundraising.

Please note that the Urumaya Conservation Foundation check the suitability of all volunteers and staff before they can commence any work with us.

All volunteers must follow our Good Practice Guidelines and provide a current CV and Volunteer Registration Form before you can be allocated to any of our projects.

If you have any questions about volunteering with Urumaya Conservation Foundation, please contact us and express your interest in getting involved with our work.
